With Federal Funding Being Cut, Rally for Medical Research Set for April 8 in DC

Washington, DC, March 29, 2013 — Federal funding for medical research continues to decline, threatening the future health of Americans, and organizers of the Rally for Medical Research are working to shine the spotlight on the problem.

Organizers are rallying the nation’s research community to attend — in person or via the Web — a Rally for Medical Research.  The rally will be held Monday, April 8 from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. (ET) in Washington, DC at the Carnegie Library Grounds at Mt. Vernon Square (801 K Street, NW).

The Rally for Medical Research will unite Americans across the country — advocates, survivors, researchers, clinicians, business leaders, and members of the general public — to call on our nation’s policymakers to make life-saving medical research funding a national priority.

This unified call to action will raise awareness about the critical need for a sustained investment in the National Institutes of Health to improve health, spur more progress, inspire more hope and save more lives.
