WSJ Analysis Finds Nine of 10 Largest College STEM Programs Increased Share of Women Graduates

New York, NY, October 13, 2017 — Melissa Korn reports in The Wall Street Journal that as more high-paying jobs require a degree and expertise in things like computer coding or mechanical engineering, colleges and universities are racing to fill a pronounced void in qualified candidates.

One place they are making extra effort is among women.

The U.S. Labor Department estimates there will be 510,900 engineering job openings in the U.S. by 2024, and another 426,900 software development and programming jobs will be available, all requiring at least a bachelor’s degree. Continue reading

Poll: NJ Voters Support Federal, State Funding for Low-Income Women’s Health, Insurance Coverage for Women’s Reproductive Health Services

Princeton, NJ, June 14, 2017 — As officials consider changes to Medicaid funding at the state and federal levels, and as Congress weighs health insurance reform, large majorities of New Jersey registered voters want to maintain federal and state funding for women’s reproductive health services for lower-income women, as well as current health insurance requirements related to such services.

These results come from the latest poll in the New Jersey Health Matters series by the New Jersey Health Care Quality Institute (NJHCQI) in partnership with the Eagleton Center for Public Interest Polling (ECPIP) at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Continue reading
