Senator Booker Sponsors Legislation to Advance Small-Business Accelerators and Incubators

Trenton, NJ, November 2, 2017 — John Reitmeyer reports on NJ Spotlight that a major element of President Donald Trump’s plan to overhaul the federal tax code involves corporate tax-rate cuts that are supposed to lead to more business investment and hiring.

But a bipartisan group of lawmakers — including New Jersey’s Cory Booker — is backing legislation that follows a different approach to economic growth by investing directly in the development of small businesses and startups.

Reitmeyer reports that a measure introduced in October in both the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives calls for $6 million in additional funding to go to the federal Small Business Administration (SBA) to help maintain the agency’s Growth Accelerator Fund for another five years. Sens. Menendez and Booker, Reps. Gottheimer and Pascrell Announce $363,583 Grant for Hackensack University Medical Center

Washington, DC, September 8, 2017 — Senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker and Congressmen Bill Pascrell (NJ-8) and Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) announced on September 7 that Hackensack University Medical Center in collaboration with the Stevens Institute of Technology will be receiving $363,583 in federal funds for cancer treatment research from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ National Cancer Institute.

Senators Menendez and Booker Announce Over $1.4 Million for NJMEP in Federal Funding to Assist NJ Manufacturers

Newark, NJ, September 3, 2017 — U.S. Senators Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and Cory Booker (D-NJ) on August 23 announced a $1,407,216 National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) grant awarded to the New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program, Inc. (NJMEP) based in Cedar Knolls, NJ.

The grant enables the NJMEP to provide technical assistance and other services to New Jersey small to mid-sized manufacturers at lower fees than other business consulting firms, helping them develop new customers, improve global competitiveness, and create jobs.

“Manufactures are an integral part of the backbone of our state’s economy,” said Senator Menendez.  “This federal investment will go a long way in helping many of New Jersey’s small and medium sized manufacturers realize more of their potential through the NJMEP’s innovative programs and initiatives.” Continue reading
