The New Jersey Life Sciences Vendors Alliance (NJLSVA) is a coalition of businesses, individuals and academia who provide goods and services to New Jersey’s life sciences companies.

The NJLSVA was founded to educate suppliers on trends in industry procurement and public policy that affects the life sciences industry.

Congressman Pallone Wields Power in Key Post on U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee

Frank Pallone flagWashington, DC, September 8, 2015 ― Last year, U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone (D-NJ-6) had a big fight on his hands, reports Jonathan D. Salant in The Star-Ledger.

Congressman Pallone wanted a coveted spot as the top Democrat of the powerful House Energy and Commerce Committee, but his party’s House leader, Nancy Pelosi, campaigned for a fellow Californian, Anna Eshoo, to win the job.  Pallone prevailed.

The election made Pallone, 63, one of the most powerful Democrats in the House and in the New Jersey congressional delegation, giving him a big platform to shape legislation and ensure that the state’s interests are represented, reports Salant. Continue reading

NJ Spotlight: House’s Cures 2015 Bill Holds Promise for ‘Personalized Medicine’

Montclair, NJ, May 26, 2015 ― Andrew Kitchenman reports in NJ Spotlight that the U.S. House’s 21st Century Cures Act is attracting bipartisan support — including from New Jersey sponsors Reps. Frank Pallone (D-6)  and Leonard Lance (R-7) — and draws praise across New Jersey’s research community, as well as its biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.

They see its goals of increasing medical research funding and speeding the approval of new drugs and medical devices as essential to promoting therapies that will serve patients and promote the state’s biotech and pharma companies.

Lance sponsored a section of the bill that would ease limits on the amount of money that the Food and Drug Administration can spend to test drugs.  That would increase the speed at which the FDA can approve drugs. Continue reading

NJ Congressman Pallone Elected Ranking Member of House Energy & Commerce Committee

Washington, DC, November 20, 2014 ― The Star-Ledger reports that defeating a lawmaker backed by House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, U.S. Representative Frank Pallone  (D-NJ-6) was chosen by his fellow Democrats on Wednesday to serve as ranking member of the House of Representatives’ powerful Energy and Commerce Committee in the next Congress.

Congressman Pallone prevailed over Rep. Anna Eshoo of California in the secret balloting. Eshoo had been endorsed by House Minority Leader Pelosi as well as the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee. Continue reading
