The NJLSVA was founded to educate suppliers on trends in industry procurement and public policy that affects the life sciences industry.

Member, New Jersey General Assembly, Chair, Health and Senior Services Committee

Assemblyman Conaway is serving his tenth term representing the Seventh Legislative District in New Jersey’s General Assembly, where he holds the distinction of being the only member with both a medical and a law degree.  The Assemblyman serves as the Chairman of the Health and Human Services Committee, Vice Chairman of the State and Local Government Committee and a member of the Appropriations Committee.  He practices internal medicine in Trenton. PhRMA Honors 2016 Research & Hope Award Recipients; Focus Is on Autoimmune Diseases

phrma-logo-whiteWashington, DC, September 15, 2016 — The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) announced the recipients of the 2016 Research & Hope Awards.

This year, PhRMA recognized patient advocates and researchers for their tireless efforts to advance the treatment and care of patients with autoimmune diseases, a group of more than 80 diseases in which a person’s own immune system attacks the body’s healthy cells.

PhRMA was joined by 22 patient and community health organizations in honoring the 2016 award winners at an annual dinner in Washington, D.C., on September 13, featuring a keynote address by actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler, best known for her role in the HBO television series “The Sopranos.” Continue reading

The recipients of HINJ’s 2015 honors were:

  • The Honorable Bob Franks Public Service Award:  HINJ presented the Honorable Bob Franks Public Service Award — named in honor of the late former U.S. Congressman and HINJ President and Chief Executive Officer Bob Franks — to U.S. Representative Leonard Lance (R-NJ-7) for his leadership in protecting patients and scientific research and the advancement of global human health.  Mr. Lance, a member of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, played a key leadership role in passage of the House’s 21st Century Cures Act (H.R. 6) in July 2015. PhRMA Presents 2015 Research & Hope Awards; Honors Cancer Researchers and Advocates

PhRMA Research Hope Award 2015Washington, DC, September 12, 2015 ― The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) on September 9 announced the recipients of the 2015 Research & Hope Awards, honoring researchers and patient advocates for their roles in advancing innovative biopharmaceutical research and improving patient care.

This year’s awardees were recognized for their work in the fight against cancer, which claims the lives of more than seven million people worldwide every year.

PhRMA is joined by 26 patient and community health organizations in honoring the 2015 award winners at an annual dinner in Washington, D.C., featuring a keynote address by legendary NBC News anchor and New York Times best-selling author Tom Brokaw. Brokaw was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a treatable but generally incurable blood cancer, in 2013. Continue reading

New Brunswick, NJ, October 9, 2014 ― The HealthCare Institute of New Jersey (HINJ) last evening honored two New Jersey leaders and two organizations for their contributions in public service, life sciences research, STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education and patient advocacy.

The awards were presented at HINJ’s Life Sciences Celebration 2014, which was held at the Renaissance Woodbridge Hotel in Iselin.

Those recognized were Congressman Rush Holt (D-NJ-12); Joachim Kohn, Ph.D., FBSE, Director, New Jersey Center for Biomaterials, and Board of Governors Professor of Chemistry, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey; Students 2 Science, Inc.; and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s New Jersey Chapter.
