The New Jersey Life Sciences Vendors Alliance (NJLSVA) is a coalition of businesses, individuals and academia who provide goods and services to New Jersey’s life sciences companies.

The NJLSVA was founded to educate suppliers on trends in industry procurement and public policy that affects the life sciences industry.

Mayors Committee on Life Sciences Patient Courage Award Presented to Ralph Wehmann in Alpine

Alpine, NJ, November 28, 2017 —The Mayors Committee on Life Sciences on November 20 presented its Patient Courage Award to Alpine resident Ralph Wehmann, in recognition of his strength in the face of adversity and commitment to helping others.

The honor was presented by Dean J. Paranicas, who serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of the HealthCare Institute of New Jersey (HINJ) and a Co-Chair of We Work for Health New Jersey, during the Alpine Mayor and Council meeting.

Mr. Wehmann’s battle with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) began in 2012. It was not his first brush with a life-threatening illness, so it came as no surprise to those that know him that he fought back with the same determination and positive spirit he had demonstrated previously. Continue reading

Mayors Committee on Life Sciences Presents Patient Courage Award to David Dubin in Haworth

Haworth, NJ, October 27, 2017 — During the Haworth Borough Council meeting on Tuesday night, the Mayors Committee on Life Sciences presented its Patient Courage Award to Haworth resident David Dubin, in recognition of his strength in the face of adversity and commitment to helping others.

The honor was presented by HealthCare Institute of New Jersey (HINJ) President and Chief Executive Officer Dean J. Paranicas, who serves as a Co-Chair of We Work for Health New Jersey.

Mr. Dubin has Lynch syndrome and is a three-time cancer survivor.  Lynch syndrome is caused by a genetic mutation that increases the risk for certain types of cancers.  He was first diagnosed with colon cancer in 1997 but did not undergo genetic testing until the cancer returned in 2007. HINJ Hosts Life Sciences Celebration 2017; Honors Six for Meritorious Contributions

New Brunswick, NJ, October 13, 2017 ― Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the HealthCare Institute of New Jersey (HINJ) yesterday morning honored four individuals, a nonprofit patient advocacy organization and a public high school for their meritorious contributions in public service, medical innovation/human health, patient access/advocacy and STEM education.

Member, New Jersey Senate (Burlington)

HINJ honored Senator Allen for her nearly 22 years of distinguished legislative service that has earned her a reputation as being one of the most effective patient advocates in the New Jersey Senate.  In the past year alone, Senator Allen, who will retire from the Senate in January, authored laws relating to elder abuse; domestic violence; improved support for veterans challenged with addiction and mental health issues; and the expansion of telemedicine, which is revolutionizing patient access to health care. Assemblyman Conaway is serving his tenth term representing the Seventh Legislative District in New Jersey’s General Assembly, where he holds the distinction of being the only member with both a medical and a law degree.  The Assemblyman serves as the Chairman of the Health and Human Services Committee, Vice Chairman of the State and Local Government Committee and a member of the Appropriations Committee.  He practices internal medicine in Trenton. PhRMA Honors 2016 Research & Hope Award Recipients; Focus Is on Autoimmune Diseases

phrma-logo-whiteWashington, DC, September 15, 2016 — The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) announced the recipients of the 2016 Research & Hope Awards.

This year, PhRMA recognized patient advocates and researchers for their tireless efforts to advance the treatment and care of patients with autoimmune diseases, a group of more than 80 diseases in which a person’s own immune system attacks the body’s healthy cells.

PhRMA was joined by 22 patient and community health organizations in honoring the 2016 award winners at an annual dinner in Washington, D.C., on September 13, featuring a keynote address by actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler, best known for her role in the HBO television series “The Sopranos.” Continue reading
