The NJLSVA was founded to educate suppliers on trends in industry procurement and public policy that affects the life sciences industry.

NJ Hospital Association Names State Health Commissioner Cathleen Bennett as President and CEO

Princeton, NJ, September 27, 2017 — The New Jersey Hospital Association Board of Trustees yesterday announced that New Jersey Health Commissioner Cathleen Bennett, Esq., will serve as the next president and CEO of the Princeton-based trade organization whose membership includes nearly 400 hospital, health system and post-acute care members.

Bennett will assume her new duties Nov. 9, becoming the sixth president and CEO in the Association’s 99-year history.  She will succeed Betsy Ryan, who has led the organization since 2008.

“We are fortunate to have found the right person for this key role, right down Route 1 in the heart of New Jersey,” said Steven G. Littleson, FACHE, president of the hospital services division and chief operating officer of Hackensack Meridian Health, who chairs the NJHA Board and led the Search Committee. Continue reading

NJ Department of Health and NJ Hospital Association Launch Electronic Access to End-of-Life Care Records

Trenton, NJ, April 4, 2017 — New Jersey Health Commissioner Cathleen D. Bennett and New Jersey Hospital Association (NJHA) President and CEO Betsy Ryan on March 31 launched New Jersey’s new electronic Practitioner Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment (POLST) during a visit to Villa Marie Claire Hospice in Saddle River.

Electronic POLST enables access to an online form—via a secure website and mobile devices—so a patient and physician or advance practice nurse can detail the individual’s goals of care and medical preferences when facing a life-limiting illness. Continue reading

New Jersey Hospitals Contribute $22.7 Billion to State’s Economy

hospital-1Trenton, NJ, December 28, 2016 — Anjalee Khemlani reports on NJBIZ that New Jersey’s 71 acute care hospitals continue to be a growing economic force in the state, contributing $22.7 billion to the state’s economy — an increase from $21.6 billion the previous year, according to the New Jersey Hospital Association (NJHA)

Health care currently represents roughly 12 percent of the state’s jobs and is estimated to grow another 32 percent by 2024, according to the New Jersey Department of Labor.

NJHA released its 2016 Economic Impact Report Wednesday detailing the economic contributions, as well as the financial summaries of hospitals in the state divided by location and hospital type. Continue reading

New Jersey Healthcare Leaders Hold Summit on Key Challenges

Healthcare Today 5Princeton, NJ, April 22, 2016 ― Members of New Jersey’s various healthcare communities — hospitals, health plans, physicians and life sciences — gathered yesterday at the New Jersey Hospital Association for a daylong event to discuss the key challenges facing the healthcare delivery system.

The New Jersey Healthcare Stakeholder Summit focused on the importance of collaboration across sectors, which all share the goal of providing high-quality, cost-effective healthcare services that are accessible to all.

The event was a joint effort of the HealthCare Institute of New Jersey (HINJ), the Medical Society of New Jersey (MSNJ), the New Jersey Association of Health Plans (NJAHP) and the New Jersey Hospital Association (NJHA). Continue reading
