The NJLSVA was founded to educate suppliers on trends in industry procurement and public policy that affects the life sciences industry.

Princeton University Professor Overcomes Challenges Facing Women in Science to Earn NJ Chamber Honor

PrincetonPrinceton, NJ, October 13, 2016 — Meg Fry reports in NJBIZ that Bonnie Bassler, Squibb Professor in Molecular Biology and chair of Princeton University’s Department of Molecular Biology, received the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce’s second annual Alice H. Parker Women Leaders in Innovation Award on September 22 at a reception held at the National Conference Center in East Windsor.

“I’m delighted and honored to receive this very personal, very vocal and very meaningful award,” Bassler said.  “It is a privilege to live and work in this state, and I thank the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce for supporting the economic engine on which New Jersey relies.”

Princeton University’s Bonnie Bassler, Pioneer Biologist, to Receive NJ Chamber’s Alice H. Parker Women Leaders in Innovation Award

PrincetonPrinceton, NJ, July 24, 2016 ― Dr. Bonnie Bassler, whose work at Princeton University is changing the face of medicine and laying the groundwork for new antibiotics, will receive the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce’s second annual Alice H. Parker Women Leaders in Innovation Award, the N.J. Chamber announced today.

Bassler, who is Squibb Professor of Molecular Biology and Chair of Princeton University’s Department of Molecular Biology, will receive the award on Sept. 22 at an evening reception and ceremony at the National Conference Center in East Windsor.

Bassler, who also is a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator, and her associates discovered that bacteria “talk” with one another through a chemical process called “quorum sensing.” Bacteria use quorum sensing to coordinate their invasions of plants, animals and people. Continue reading

Opportunity New Jersey Created to Build the State’s Economy and Create Jobs

Trenton, NJ, March 1, 2016 ― The coalition members who sponsored the New Jersey Business Summit in September 2015 has announced the formation of a grassroots organization called Opportunity New Jersey whose mission is to increase awareness of the impact that policies and legislative action will have on the state’s economy and job growth for New Jersey citizens.

Opportunity New Jersey will use grassroots outreach to inform policymakers and the public about how proposals out of Trenton will impact the state economy.  The 501(c)(4) organization will raise the donations from individuals, businesses and organizations.

“We have invited state leaders to meet with the business community and to consider us as an asset in creating economic growth programs,” said Tom Bracken, president and CEO of the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce.  “Opportunity New Jersey will give us a wider platform to make sure that concerns about job growth are part of the discussion about addressing New Jersey’s economic challenges.” Continue reading

Trenton, NJ, January 27, 2016 ― All aboard!  The New Jersey Chamber of Commerce will host its annual must-attend business and networking event for New Jersey’s political and business leaders at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel (via chartered train) in Washington.

NJ Chamber to Honor Lt. Governor Guadagno and Other Leaders on October 14

Governor Kim Guadagno, Labor Department Commissioner Harold J. Wirths and PNC Bank Regional President Linda Bowden with its Business Advocates of the Year.

All seven recipients are being honored by the State Chamber for their work advancing New Jersey as a more business friendly state and as a great place to live and work.
