The NJLSVA was founded to educate suppliers on trends in industry procurement and public policy that affects the life sciences industry.

Surge of NJEDA Approvals Closes Out Active 2016 for State’s Angel Investor Tax Credit Program

Trenton, NJ, February 28, 2017 — The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (EDA) recently announced the approval of a record-breaking 251 applications through the state’s Angel Investor Tax Credit Program in 2016, representing the injection of more than $96 million in private capital into technology and life sciences companies throughout the Garden State.

NJEDA Creates Programs to Enhance Commercial Corridors in Garden State Growth Zones Designed to Stimulate Small Business Sector

Trenton, NJ, February 19, 2017 — The Board of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (EDA) acted on February 14 to expand support of small business growth in Garden State Growth Zones (GSGZs) through the creation of the Business Lease Incentive (BLI) and Business Improvement Incentive (BII) programs.

Some may call it a publicity stunt — and, since we are writing about it here, it would be a successful one — but we feel the open letter from the New Jersey Tech Council to the New York tech community encouraging its members to cross the river is more than that.

To us, it’s another effort by forces in our state to help business and industry grow and flourish. And there can never be enough efforts in that direction.

The letter, penned by Jim Barrood, the Tech Council’s CEO and president, came in response to the latest battles new-era companies Airbnb and Uber are having with New York City and its seemingly anti-business Mayor Bill de Blasio. Continue reading

NJ Economic Development Authority Approves $35-Plus Million for Over 40 Tech and Biotech Companies via Technology Business Tax Certificate Transfer Program

nj-eda-economicTrenton, NJ, October 7, 2016 — Continuing its commitment to bolster the Garden State’s robust technology ecosystem, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (EDA) announced on October 3 that 40 New Jersey technology and biotechnology companies have been approved to share over $35 million in Fiscal Year 2017 through the State’s Technology Business Tax Certificate Transfer (NOL) Program.

Administered by the EDA and the New Jersey Department of Treasury’s Division of Taxation, this competitive program enables eligible technology and biotechnology companies to sell New Jersey tax losses and/or research and development tax credits to raise non-dilutive cash to finance their growth and operations. Indian Drugmaker Aurobindo Breaks Ground for U.S. Headquarters in East Windsor

Shovel groundbreakingEast Windsor, NJ, August 2, 2016 ― Eric Strauss reports in NJBIZ that Aurobindo USA has broken ground on the 567,000-square-foot facility it is building as a new U.S. headquarters in East Windsor Township, the municipality announced Monday.

Aurobindo, a pharmaceutical company based in India, is building a new warehouse, distribution and manufacturing center on the 90-acre site, which will generate more than 400 new jobs when up and running, township officials said in a news release.

“This is an exciting day, as the size and scope of this facility marks a significant investment by Aurobindo in East Windsor Township, generating substantial local tax dollars and several hundred new jobs for our area,” Mayor Janice S. Mironov said in a prepared statement. Continue reading
