The NJLSVA was founded to educate suppliers on trends in industry procurement and public policy that affects the life sciences industry.

Rutgers to Host 5th Annual Entrepreneurship Day on October 16

New Brunswick, NJ, October 4, 2013 — Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey will host its 5th Annual Entrepreneurship Day on Wednesday, October 16, 2013, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Rutgers College Avenue Student Center in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

The theme is this year’s conference is “Collaborative Innovation….Progress Through Partnerships.”

Attendees will:

  • Hear Dr. Donald Black share the story of Lipitor “From Bench to Bedside” — Discover how the best-selling pharmaceutical drug in history made it through the FDA’s approval process from former Parke-Davis Warner-Lambert VP of Clinical Research and Lipitor’s clinical trial lead project manager.
  • Hear from Experts on Funding Early Stage Innovations — Hear from a panel of entrepreneurs and investors on funding New Product Development from concept to consumer, including a Rutgers/legacy UMDNJ spinout that raised over $100MM in a 2013 IPO and VCs with over $750MM in capital under management.
  • Learn about the National Science Foundation’s I-Corps Program — Dr. Errol Arkilic, founder of NSF’s I-Corps program, shares why NSF is providing $50,000 grants to support commercialization of new innovations.

Rutgers University’s Annual Entrepreneurship Day is all about bringing people together to develop the relationships necessary for doing business. 

Rutgers’ goal for this event is to advance technology development and commercialization by connecting researchers, corporate executives, business development professionals, investors, entrepreneurs, service providers, support organizations, and other members of the regional innovation ecosystem.  In the spirit of strengthening public-private partnerships, Rutgers hopes to be the conduit for encouraging university entrepreneurship.

The conference is part of a series of events that Rutgers holds to support technology commercialization activities within the state and surrounding region.  Previous keynote speakers of the conference series include Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple, Dan Schulman, CEO/founder of Priceline.com and Virgin Mobile USA, and Bill Joy, co-founder of Sun MicroSystems.
