The New Jersey Life Sciences Vendors Alliance (NJLSVA) is a coalition of businesses, individuals and academia who provide goods and services to New Jersey’s life sciences companies.

The NJLSVA was founded to educate suppliers on trends in industry procurement and public policy that affects the life sciences industry.

NJ Department of Health to Sponsor ‘Cancer Prevention Summit’ September 18

Edison, NJ, August 15, 2014 ― The New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) is sponsoring a free conference, “New Jersey Cancer Prevention Summit,” on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Pines Manor in Edison from 9:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

You are invited to join key cancer prevention, care and treatment stakeholders to explore shifting the focus from disease treatment to disease prevention through healthy living.

The summit’s morning agenda will include:

  • An Overview of Cancer in New Jersey
  • Emerging Topics: E-Cigarettes
  • Keynote on Cancer Control: Past, Present and Future by Otis Brawley, M.D., Chief Medical Officer, American Cancer Society
  • Panel Discussion: Putting Prevention into Practice

Following the 12:30 p.m. buffet luncheon, the afternoon agenda will include:

  • An Overview of Current NJDOH Cancer Prevention Initiatives – Commissioner Mary O’Dowd
  • Five concurrent workshop sessions on:
  1. Increasing Screening Rates Among Vulnerable Populations
  2. Healthy Eating and Active Living
  3. Tobacco Prevention: Strengthening Integrative Approaches
  4. Patient Centered Medical Homes
  5. Creating Partnerships to Promote Prevention Practices

There is no charge for this program, however, pre-registration is required.

Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.  Continuing Education credits available for NJ Public Health Professionals.  Nursing credits are pending.
