The New Jersey Life Sciences Vendors Alliance (NJLSVA) is a coalition of businesses, individuals and academia who provide goods and services to New Jersey’s life sciences companies.

The NJLSVA was founded to educate suppliers on trends in industry procurement and public policy that affects the life sciences industry.

New Jersey Surges to the Top in Biotech Growth Potential Category

Biotechnology 2Princeton, NJ, November 14, 2015 ― New Jersey’s dominance in biotechnology was validated with a top ranking nationally in the Biotech Growth Potential category in Business Facilities Magazine’s Annual Rankings Report released in July 2015.

New Jersey surged to the top of the annual biotech growth assessment as a result of its ability to attract new players and grant funding, leverage its world-class research hubs, and its ability to support startups and develop new industry clusters.

Home to 14 of the world’s largest biopharmaceutical companies and largest clinical research organizations, New Jersey also was ranked #2 in Biotech Strength (Drugs/Pharma) in the Annual Rankings. Continue reading

HINJ Updates Portal of Member Companies’ Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability Activities

CSR chasing arrowsNew Brunswick, NJ, November 13, 2015 ― The HealthCare Institute of New Jersey (HINJ) has updated its online portal to HINJ member companies’ myriad corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities, including their corporate philanthropy, patient outreach initiatives and sustainability/green practices.

Launched in November 2014 and promoted via Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn, HINJ’s CSR online portal has become one of the most-visited areas of the association’s website.

The portal — “HINJ Members’ CSR Activities” — is accessible by clicking on the second tab under the HINJ homepage’s Corporate Social Responsibility menu. Continue reading

Happy 250th, Rutgers! Johnson & Johnson to Provide Scholarships for Students in Health-Related Fields

Rutgers 250 AnniversaryNew Brunswick, NJ, November 11, 2015 ―  As Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey launches a yearlong celebration of its 250th birthday, the university has received its first official gift to mark the occasion:  a pledge of up to $50,000 from Rutgers’ longtime neighbor and partner, Johnson & Johnson, for student scholarships in health-care related fields.

Rutgers President Robert Barchi and Johnson & Johnson leaders announced the scholarship initiative during Tuesday’s kickoff ceremony for Rutgers 250, the celebration that culminates a year from now, on November 10, 2016, which will mark the 250th anniversary of the birth of Queen’s College, the colonial institution that became Rutgers University. Physicians Prescribe New Smartphone Apps to Manage Medical Conditions

New York, NY, November 11, 2015 ― Laura Landro reports in The Wall Street Journal that your doctor may soon prescribe you a smartphone app in addition to drugs and physical therapy.

Landro reports that hospitals are developing new mobile apps to help patients manage serious medical conditions and feed information back to their doctors between visits, often in real time.

The new apps aim to help with highly specific issues such as recovering from surgery and managing cancer-related pain.   Continue reading
