HINJ Honors Six at Inaugural Life Sciences Celebration
New Brunswick, NJ, September 26, 2013 ― The HealthCare Institute of New Jersey (HINJ) honored five New Jersey leaders and a nationally recognized high school last evening for their contributions in human health, public service, patient advocacy, life sciences, and science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education.
The awards were presented at HINJ’s inaugural Life Sciences Celebration, which was held at the Renaissance Woodbridge Hotel in Iselin, NJ.
Those recognized included former Governor Thomas H. Kean, the late United States Senator Frank R. Lautenberg, Dr. Christopher J. Molloy, Dr. Joseph R. Bertino, Dr. Debra L. Wentz, and Biotechnology High School.
HINJ was pleased to host three former New Jersey Governors. In addition to Governor Kean, Governor Brendan Byrne and Governor James Florio attended the event.

Rutgers to Host Pharmaceutical Regulatory Compliance Workshop September 26
Piscataway, NJ, September 17, 2013 — The NSF Center for Structured Organic Particulate Systems (C-SOPS) based at Rutgers University will host industry representatives at the inaugural meeting of the Rutgers’ Consortium on Regulatory Compliance Exploration and Services (CRCES), on Thursday September 26 at Rutgers, Busch Campus in Piscataway, NJ.

No Fines for Employers that Don’t Tell Staff of Obamacare Exchanges by October 1
Newark, NJ, September 16, 2013 — Ed Beeson reports in The Star-Ledger that the Obama administration has announced it won’t fine employers who miss an Oct. 1 deadline for a basic, but potentially overlooked requirement of the Affordable Care Act.
Under the healthcare law, employers are required to circulate a notice to their workers about the health insurance exchanges that are opening up on Oct. 1. These online exchanges, or marketplaces, will sell health policies to individuals who don’t get coverage through their jobs and to small businesses looking to buy coverage for their workers, among others. Rutgers Pioneers Dual Doctorate in Pharmacy/Medicine
New Brunswick, NJ, September 5, 2013 — A dual-degree program combining a doctorate in pharmacy with a medical degree has been developed by Rutgers University’s Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy.
The schools, part of the new Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences, will launch the new PharmD/MD program within the next year. Health-care education professionals believe that this program will be the first of its kind. Continue reading
