15 NJ Health Centers Receive Affordable Care Act Grant Money

Washington, DC, December 10, 2014 ― Beth Fitzgerald reports in NJBIZ that the US Department of Health and Human Serves yesterday awarded more than a half-million dollars in Affordable Care Act grants to 15 of New Jersey’s 20 federally funded health centers, which provide medical care in low- and moderate-income communities statewide.

In making the announcement, HHS Sylvia M. Burwell said the $510,008 in ACA grants recognize those health centers that have achieved certain quality milestones and are making ongoing investment in health care quality improvement.

Burwell said the 15 New Jersey health centers getting awards are leaders in areas such as chronic disease management, preventive care and the use of electronic health records to track quality data.

Nearly 1,300 HRSA-supported health centers operate more than 9,200 service delivery sites that provide care to nearly 22 million patients in every state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the Pacific Basin.
